Fill the Well

Happy Friday!

It’s been a long week. A cold has kept me from meeting my weekly fitness goals, and it’s kept me from being creative. Alas, I am on the mend and I am excited about the weekend.

My weekend is starting early. I’m leaving work around 1 p.m. to go and get a massage. Afterward, I am going to take a long walk and then continue reading 24 Hours by Greg Iles.

Filling the Well

Saturday I have a couple of fun things planned. First, I am covering an event in Southeastern Minnesota for the local newspaper. It’s a pumpkin festival with crafts and activities for kids.

I love this time of year. The air is crisp and cool and the ever turning colors of the tree leaves always mesmerizes me. Oh,  and caramel apples!

After the festival, I am going to Rochester to tour the Mayowood Mansion. I have been wanting to do this for months, and I am going to make time to visit.

All of these goodies I have planned are serving a purpose. I need to fill the well. I have been cranking out creative projects left and right for several weeks. Now it’s time to care for my inner artist.

Those of you familiar with Julia Cameron are keen to this idea. It’s point number 2 in the section called Rules of the Road. “In order to be an artist, I must: Fill the well by caring for my artist,” page 55 in The Artist’s Way.

The Artists Way: Fill The Well

If you are looking for a way to “fill your well,” Cameron suggests listing 20 things you enjoy doing, i.e. rock climbing, making soup, baking a pie, reading poetry and so forth.

What else is goin’ on?

Painting! I am going to finish my painting for next weekend’s Wine & Canvas!

What’s on your schedule for the weekend?
