Abandon the Past

An old barn weathering the elements…

Abandoned in a field

Abandoned Haiku

Sweltering heat and
gusty winds collide against
a decrepit frame.

As I write each day, I try to follow the instructions of The Portable MFA. One of the things that sticks out from my daily writing was abandoning my past. Learn from it and move on.

Sometimes I feel like I lack direction. Sometimes I feel like being a jack-of-all-trades and a master-of-none is frustrating. But I am trying to move into a more positive frame of mind.

The past is nothing more than a decrepit frame; it can’t be fixed or changed. It’s over. Now, move on. The experiences I have are what make me who I am today. I can only make decisions based on what I learned from the past.

Does your past ever haunt you?
