Whispers and Whirlwinds

The Haiku Horizons haiku prompt for this week is “pass.” At first glance, I had no idea what I was going to write using the word “pass.” When I started to think about pictures I wanted to use to go along with my haiku, I thought about trains passing through mountains. Then, I started thinking about all the passes, or roads leading through or over mountains, in Colorado.

Why Colorado? Because I used to live there. And not a day goes by that wonder why I left and why I haven’t been able to get back there permanently.

Today’s Haiku:

new life begins
whispers and whirlwinds collide
as she passes through

Have you made decisions in the past that you still question today?

Have a terrific Monday!

  1. I visited Denver and Boulder back in 2008 with the intention of moving there. I really loved Boulder and wanted to live there. I lined up some interviews but the timing was bad. Long story short, I’m still on the East Coast. Guess it wasn’t meant to be. Great photo and poem.

    • Too funny. I lived in Boulder and my job transferred me out east. The east coast just wasn’t for me and I have been floating around ever since. So true…it wasn’t meant to be. Sometimes that is a tough pill to swallow. Thanks for reading.

  2. Somehow I connected with this Haiku. I feel like that, often. I do things ’cause I am answerable to myself, and that may not always please others. They may not understand me, but as long as I can be at peace with myself, I shouldn’t care. Whirlwind or whispers, I will pass through anyway.

    • I am so glad this resonated with you. I agree. The older I get the more I am able to make decisions based on what I want and not about what I will look like to others. Have a great day!
