Girl on the Go: Ride in a Hot Air Balloon

In less than 24 hours, we leave for the Apostle Islands. If you don’t hear from me for a few days or maybe the whole week, you know why!

Now for today’s Girl on the Go! I want to ride in a Hot Air Balloon!

Get Back Up!

I came across this quote today, and it almost brought me to tears. There have been so many lessons learned in my 40 years…so many heartbreaks, so many losses, so many knees skinned and so many tears shed. But, thanks to my supportive family, and my fierce determination, I am able to reach for the stars after I have been broken.

Get Up and Try Again Haiku

Today’s Haiku:

vultures swarm high
above her languishing heart
stubborn hand rises

~

How stubborn are you?

Happy Thursday!

Tuesday’s Writing Tips: Properly Written Words

Tuesday’s Writing Tips

The Elements of Style

It’s time for another writing tip from Chapter Four of The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr. and E.B. White. Chapter four is titled, Words and Expressions Commonly Misused.

All right

Idiomatic in familiar speech as a detached phrase in the sense “Agreed,” or “Go ahead,” or “O.K.” Properly written as two words—all right.

Now for today’s haiku. I am using the prompt from Haiku Horizons. The prompt is “song.”

Today’s Haiku

words tickle my brain
as a song rolls off my tongue
sweet sound of music

Happy Tuesday and thanks for stopping by!

Girl on the Go: Eat at Tom’s Burned Down Cafe

In one week, hubby and I are headed up north for a much needed vacation. And, as any writer would do during any vacation, they would take a writing class in conjunction with their  vacation. I am attending a Creative Non-Fiction writing course at the Madeline Island School of the Arts.

Madeline Island is located in Lake Superior and surrounded by the Apostle Islands. When I told my friends we were headed to the Apostle Islands, they said we had to eat at Tom’s Burned Down Cafe. There wasn’t an explanation for this just that we needed to visit.

Naturally, I decided to google the restaurant. Their website isn’t much to look at and literally states, “Sorry, we’re open!” Hmmm. I guess this is for the experience and definitely not the food. This could be a problem, I am quite particular with what crosses my palate. Especially, since we are going to be spoiled with the all organic food that the school is preparing for us.

Nonetheless, it is on my Girl on the Go list! Maybe, I’ll just have a beer.
