Girl on the Go: Eat at Tom’s Burned Down Cafe

In one week, hubby and I are headed up north for a much needed vacation. And, as any writer would do during any vacation, they would take a writing class in conjunction with their  vacation. I am attending a Creative Non-Fiction writing course at the Madeline Island School of the Arts.

Madeline Island is located in Lake Superior and surrounded by the Apostle Islands. When I told my friends we were headed to the Apostle Islands, they said we had to eat at Tom’s Burned Down Cafe. There wasn’t an explanation for this just that we needed to visit.

Naturally, I decided to google the restaurant. Their website isn’t much to look at and literally states, “Sorry, we’re open!” Hmmm. I guess this is for the experience and definitely not the food. This could be a problem, I am quite particular with what crosses my palate. Especially, since we are going to be spoiled with the all organic food that the school is preparing for us.

Nonetheless, it is on my Girl on the Go list! Maybe, I’ll just have a beer.

  1. “Maybe, I’ll just have a beer.” – Something my husband is used to hearing from me. 😀
A very refreshing and often healthy point of view. Slainte!

  2. Sounds like fun. I’ve been to a few places in the Czech Republic that were kind of off the beaten path. The locals looked like most of them had never heard English. Kind of cool. Kind of scary.
