Today I wanted to give you a little slice of what it’s like to take the ferry from Bayfield, Wisconsin to Madeline Island. This is another postcard snippet of our journey.
Blue skies reflected the cool blue color of Lake Superior. Adlai drove onto the ferry and cut the engine. He set the emergency brake and we got out of the car. The ferry engine growled as it pulled out of the harbor. The abandoned sailboats begged for our attention. “Stop, stop, stop! Look over here!” They pleaded with us. “We long to open our sails and glide into deeper water. It’s where we feel alive.”
